PROJECT NAME: Chart Book

PROJECT SUMMARY:

In a knowledge-based economy, the amount of information is enormous. It also changes our reading habits, causing people to be greedy for convenience and speed, but they don’t take the time to explore the principles in depth. Although the government has promoted reading activities, the results have been minimal. The targets are mostly students, but the government has ignored the reading needs of adults. The long-term reading mode is not suitable for everyone because it will be affected by many external environmental factors and personal abilities.

Therefore, to cope with reading mode change, a multimedia-based reading space is set up with diversified interactive methods. The elements of e-reading and book reading are combined to transform into an attractive, light, and concise reading mode. It can help improve learning motivation and communication opportunities, and it can also increase Self-enhancement efficiently.

CURRENT SITUATION:

Hong Kong people's pace of life is hectic, and there are very few opportunities to read slowly. Due to technology advancement, mobile phones have become a necessity in people's lives in recent years. Most people choose to use mobile phones to browse online information as reading, which reduces adults' motivation to go to libraries and buy books. Although the emergence of e-books is deriving from technological progress, reading physical books still has its advantages.

However, the location is inconvenient. The facilities and the environment are not comfortable. Moreover, The books cannot provide the latest information and search speed is slow, which reduces their desire to go. On the other hand, the working hours of Hong Kong people are generally too long. As a result, there is no extra time for reading. Many libraries are closed earlier, so people have not enough time to stay area. A convenient and caring reading environment is created for them, increasing their motivation to read books.

WHAT PROBLEM ARE YOU TRYING TO SOLVE?

Introducing diversified auxiliary facilities and improving the space's opening time and the environment will help attract people to use the facilities. And through the integration of the reading space, let them have an intimate experience that meets their personal needs and improve their incentives to use it.

WHO IS THIS GOING TO IMPACT ON?

Office workers can have the opportunity to use the public reading space and increase the borrowing rate of books in the general area, creating an atmosphere for reading books and improving their knowledge level.

WHAT ARE YOUR CONSTRAINTS?

To allocate additional space in the existing site structure requires a lot of interval changes. The change or extension of opening hours will affect employees' working hours and cause them to be dissatisfied. Also, diversified public spaces and facilities may be abused or malfunctioned, which will affect the user experience.

WHAT RESOLUTION WILL THE FINAL PROTOTPYE BE?

Through the division of space, the user can transform the original book collection area into multiple small reading spaces. Let people with the same interests gather together. And it reduces the need for people to search for books on the move. You can get the books you need in nearby places, and you can sit down and read them instantly. With the function of the information screen, you can find the information you need in real-time. Even if another user borrows the book, you can still get the electronic version of the text stored in the intranet to read. Coupled with the function of personalized bookmarks, record their own reading experience so that they have a simple and straightforward reading experience.

WHAT IS YOUR SCHEDULE FOR THE PROJECT?
